Red, White, and Booze: Sangria for the Fourth, or You Know, Whenever

by Karen Miner

You know what makes me feel fine, besides a summer breeze? Summer booze. More specifically, sipping on summer booze as the summer breeze blows the jasmine through my mind.

I'll let you enjoy the cool stylings of Seals and Crofts for a minute before I continue...

Most of us need no excuse for summery cocktails, but damn if the Fourth of July isn't a good one. It's a long weekend, so it's OK to have a bit of a hangover the next morning. And when the Fourth comes and goes, it's OK to make this any other day, too. Basically any time you want to feel super patriotic while you get drunk, make this.

White Wine-Berry Sangria

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle dry white wine (I used Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 1 cup lemon-lime soda
  • 1/2 cup raspberry vodka
  • 1/4 cup brandy
  • Chopped strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Blueberries
  • Ice

Directions:

  1. In a pitcher, combine wine, soda, vodka, and brandy.
  2. Put a few raspberries and a small handful of chopped strawberries into the bottom of each glass and muddle.
  3. Fill glass with ice, then top with sangria and a few blueberries. Stir.
